Jordan Thomas Mitchell – Freelance Writer and Photographer

A native of Orlando, Florida, Jordan Thomas Mitchell grew up in a family of artists, chefs, and pawnbrokers. Somewhere around the age of 10, Jordan fell in love with music, and has been a dedicated composer ever since. When puberty struck and the finer sex came into view, Jordan found the art of rhetoric to be quite useful—which lead to a love of sweet talking and writing love poetry. Jordan briefly pursued a degree in philosophy, but instead decided to read books at the library, write freelance editorials, hold photo exhibitions, and perform his music. Read Jordan’s articles!

Jelena Kovacevic – Freelance Writer

Long-term Beijing resident Jelena Kovacevic has worked in service industries since she landed in Beijing in 2004, a career that is sustained by her passion for intercultural communication. She has coached many newcomers on the art of communicating and doing business in China while showing them the best the city has to offer, and while doing so, has also developed a keen sense of the city. While she’s usually as busy as a bee working as a freelance writer for Agenda and Beijing Kids, organizing events for Viva Professional Women’s Network and making connections through InterNations, she always makes time to show visitors the best the city has to offer.

Sarah Bajc – Freelance Writer

Sarah has been a business leader, adviser and mentor for over 20 years in the entrepreneurial and corporate sectors in the US and China.  At the end of 2010, she retired from business to pursue her true interest in teaching.  She has remained active in the Beijing community as a speaker, journalist and consultant while she completes her Masters of Arts in Education which will allow her to pursue a career in international education. In her free time, Sarah enjoys scuba diving, skiing, yoga, dancing, hiking, cooking, music and spending time with her three children, two dogs and three cats. Read Sarah’s articles!

Alice Xia – Editorial Intern

Alice recently graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Political Science. Born in Anhui Province and raised (for the most part) in Southern California, her passion for writing and language grew out of the need to reconcile cultural barriers and personal expression. Alice is constantly looking for new ways to shed light on modern life in China, especially through journalism. She will be studying and interning in Beijing for a year before attending grad school in the States. Read Alice’s articles!
