Penn Olson’s reports  on the first shipment of gray market iPhone 4s’es arriving in Beijing:

Chinese tech site DoNews reports that the very first unlocked iPhone 4S models being shipped into China from Australia are being sold to pre-booked, eager moonshine-drinkers for as much as 15,000 RMB (US$2,350) … Only in the coming weeks, as Apple’s smartphone launches in more countries, will the price drop to a somewhat less crazy figure. Sadly, there’s no launch date set for the 4S for either mainland China or Hong Kong.

The Economic Times also reports on having been offered two 16GB iPhones from Canada for RMB 11,000 each (as opposed to US$119 in the States with a carrier contract).

The sky-high prices haven’t deterred customers – the same ET article also cites a Zhongguancun shop claiming that they have already sold out of their stock, which perhaps shouldn’t come as a surprise considering people have allegedly offered sexual favors and even sold their organs for Apple gear in China.

Meanwhile, there’s good news for you Johnny-Come-Latelies: China Mobile has just announced price cuts for the iPhone 3Gs and 4down almost RMB 500 to RMB 4,548 for a 16GB iPhone 4 and RMB 4,998 for a 32GB iPhone4. The iPhone 3GS can now be bought for RMB 2,888.  Gizchina also anticipates that these price drops mean we should see the iPhone4s officially launched in China “within a month.” Stay tuned.
